I worked in the following industries auto sales, mortgage & real estate, banking, marketing agency, nightlife, medical marijuana (I don't smoke), firearms & I dabbled in the rave scene. The rave industry is by far the least ethical. The profit margins are no where close to what you think they are & stress and brain damage is insane.

If you are as good a guy as you seem I would stay far away from the scene.

That's the best thing you can do in a situation like that, think of only yourself! I'm sure you rather not here the whole "I've been there, done that" blurb from random people, but I very much understand where you are coming from.

I'm almost in the same boat, I just don't have the balls to sell everything I own to help those who have betrayed me one too many times. I'm nice, but I know I could never be THAT nice.

Write things down. Make a list of things that need to get done...I try to always write what I think where ever I can and usually more than once...really helps to remember and stay focus on certain tasks!

All I can do is wish you good luck in your future endeavors...I may not know you on a personal level, but I can tell you're a smart person, you'll pull through.

Just keep your head up and remember you ALWAYS come first before ANYONE. Never let anyone tell you otherwise.

Take care ;)

congrats on your launch but you'd be a fool to try and sell out three 10,000 ticket shows without any experience in that industry. First of all, the money isn't in the ticket sales it's in the drug sales. Second, an event like that doesn't just happen most of those shows are planned before the previos one even ends, which means u should have it in the works now to throw it in two years. But that won't happen because u don't have the momentum like the triads do. Nor the massive following that takes 10 years to build. (electronic following). Also lights alone will cost 100,000. Not to mention the team of sound engineers and speakers probly 250,000. Don't let some kid try and doop u into thinking u can throw a successful party because he wants to throw one. Plus, if people find out you're doing it for the money the people in this local electronic community will not go and word will spread like wildfire. Perhaps u already doomed yourself. There's probly a post on sideways5 already telling people to stay away.

Whoa, I randomly typed 'Andrew' into the Facebook search bar and it didn't come up with results. I assumed you might've deleted your Facebook. I think this is great and can only lead to a positive outcome. I remember having my only computer die five years back. It remained dead for about a month. The first 4 days felt like torture because I was never away from a keyboard for more than a day.

A week later I felt so much more alive... away from the distractions of social networking (pretty much only myspace and maybe the now-dead sconex at the time). It was nice not being able to waste time online and actually feel productive doing physical life-related activities. So yeah, good luck man! I have a friend who gave up meat for lent; to me what you're doing seems like the new-age lent.

Fascinating post and I am sure you hear all the time that everyone else would have done it differently, but of course how could any of us know what we would have done in that position without being in it? Thanks for the interesting read.
